The latest installment of SMOK’s Taste Furious lineup comes in the form of the SMOK TFV8 sub-ohm tank. It’s known in some circles as the “Cloud Beast,” and for good reason. Check out our review of one of the most sought-after sub-ohm tanks to date.
From the Chinese brand known for its superbly-crafted tanks, mods, and accessories, the SMOK TFV8 sub-ohm tank is the prime choice for the cloud chuggers and vapor chasers out there. This powerful tank is available for as low as $26.
Armed with the feedback and user reviews for the TFV4, SMOK made some pretty amazing adjustments to the TFV8, making it close to the perfect vape tank – it’s got everything from power, physical charm, quality, and performance.
The Entire Kit
The kit is certified eye candy for vapers. Unlike other kits that come in either a black or white sleeve, the SMOK TFV8 makes a lasting impression, featuring an erupting volcano and a flowing lava background. It’s a potent symbol for what this sub-ohm tank is capable of.
Here are the parts included in the kit:
- 1 x TFV8 Cloud Beast Tank
- 1 x V8-T8 Octuple Coil Head (0.15Ω), pre-installed; rated at 50-260W but best in 120-180W
- 1 x V8-Q4 Quadruple Coil Head (0.15Ω); rated at 50-180W but best in 90-150W
- 1 x V8 Exclusive Turbo RBA Head (0.28Ω)
- 1 x Replacement glass tube
- 1 x Bag of cotton ready to be wicked and vaped
- 1 x Instruction manual
Physically, the SMOK TFV8 is an attractively crafted sub-ohm tank that’s very pleasing to the eye. You can really feel how it’s constructed from high-quality, durable materials to achieve its robust build.
It’s the sub-ohm tank with the biggest and baddest eight-coil assemblage we’ve ever seen, which is pretty impressive. Now, large coils mean that more juice and battery power is required, so at this point we don’t think that the TFV8 is the best vape for everyday use. It’s best for recreational vaping and showing off to friends and onlookers, as it does produce tons of clouds.
Easy Top Filling
The TFV8 is fairly large compared to the TFV4, but SMOK retains the patented swiveling cap, which is part of their TF series; but now it’s been made even easier to fill since the opening is a bit larger than before. This ultimately means, that there are no leaks, no juice-wasting, and no mess to clean up.
Won’t Leak When Done Right
We’ve heard a lot of comments from existing users that this tank leaks, but that’s mostly due to overfilling, which is ill-advised and specifically warned against in the instruction manual. You also need to make sure you close the tank tightly. You’ll know when you’ve done it correctly if you hear a clicking sound when you close it.
Extreme Cloud Satisfaction
The coil takes a minute or two to heat up. We first tried the quadruple coil and started it on 50W. At this power, we could barely produce a cloud. We moved up 100W, in the recommended range between 90W and 150W. At 100W, the clouds kept coming and coming, and coming.
We then climbed up to 120W, which wasn’t considerably different from 100W. 150W delivers bigger and thicker vapor to. The vapor remained cooler than most vapes, and there’s no burnt taste or dryness whatsoever.
We stopped at 160W, and we don’t recommend that vapers go this high, as it can become uncomfortable.
For those of you who put a lot of emphasis on flavor, you can get a good amount of flavor with the TFV8, but it is called the “Cloud Beast,” not the “Flavor Beast.” We could taste the juice with each hit but it was nothing fancy, just enough for us to enjoy the experience.
The Bottom Line
For cloud chasers and vapor chuggers, this is definitely the best choice for a sub-ohm tank. We really dig the TFV8 experience, and it’s a definite 10/10 when it comes to vapor production and performance.
As an important note, you’ll definitely need a mod with a power output of at least 100 W. Using the tank with a lesser mod will fail to properly unleash the beast.
The only other downside is that the TFV8 eats a large amount of battery and juice, which makes sense – it requires high wattage and a lot of liquid to produce such thick clouds. If you’re constantly strapped for cash, this might not be the best sub-ohm tank for you; but if you’re prepared to cover the costs, this beast will deliver cloud after cloud.
We love the TFV8 because it’s one of the most jam-packed sub-ohm kits we’ve come across: it has an easy top filling system, is leak-free, handsomely constructed, and finally, is fairly easy on the pocket.
