Best Oil Vaporizer Pens of 2015

Oil vaporizer pens are probably the most misunderstood type of vaporizer. People think that you need a specialty vape pen to be able to use oil concentrate, but in reality a liquid vaporizer pen works the exact same as a traditional e-cigarette. So I guess it makes sense the two of the top oil and liquid vaporizer pens for 2015 come from 2 of the top electronic cigarette companies.

This guide to the top oil concentrate vape pens is focused on a few different factors: price, performance, and durability. The pens that are reasonably priced, high-performing and durable are the ones we ranked at the top. So without further ado, here are the…

Top 4 Oil Vaporizer Pens of 2015

TOP RANKED

#1 V2 Cigs Pro Series Vape Pen – $69.99

V2 Cigs is one of the top electronic cigarette retailers on the Internet with a loyal following a huge sales numbers. But last year they released their V2 Cigs Pro Series Vaporizer. It’s a 3-in-1 vapor pen that can handle dry herbs, oil, and wax.

V2 says that the Pro Series is “designed for e-liquid but performs equally well with dry herb and wax”. After testing it for ourselves, that makes a whole lot of sense.

The V2 Pro definitely worked best for our oil concentrate. It delivered consistent clouds of vapor and there were very few problems with wicking and dry hits. This was a problem with some of the other pens because oil concentrate is a bit thicker than normal e-liquid and it can gum up the works.

But we were also very pleasantly surprised to find that this vape pen handled dry herbs pretty dang well. Most vaporizer pens on the market will claim they work with dry herbs, but in reality they just burn it and the whole thing is a mess. While the V2 Pro isn’t going to challenge the Volcano anytime soon, it is a nice addition to be able to vape dry herbs and wax to switch things up.

Overall, this was definitely the best vaporizer pen that we tried when it came to working with essential oil concentrates. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s a 3-in-1 vape pen that can actually vape 3 different things.

#2 KandyPens SkyCloud – $98.95

The KandyPens SkyCloud is another 3-in-1 vaporizer pen, and it’s one that not a lot of people have heard of. However, we saw that 25 people reviewed it on VaporNation for an overall score of 4.4 out of 5 stars. Not bad, especially for a vape pen.

The SkyCloud didn’t do as well as the V2 Pro when it came to the dry herbs, but that doesn’t really matter because this list is focused on the best oil vaporizers! When it came to vaporizing oil concentrate, the SkyCloud performed extremely well, about as well as the V2 Pro. The only reason we put it at #2 is because it’s about $30 more expensive.

The KandyPens SkyCloud looks kind of like the G-Pen, another popular “3-in-1 vaporizer pen” that most people found pretty disappointing. But looks are where the similarities ended, because the SkyCloud blew the G-Pen out of the water in terms of performance.

This vape pen is especially good with oil concentrate because it’s built just a little differently. Most oil pens are set up so that the concentrate is poured right onto the wick, which is what you want in a normal e-cigarette but not when vaping oil because you end up wasting more and it’s much more expensive than e-liquid. So the SkyCloud does a great job of performing well while also helping conserve your oil supply.

All in all, this relatively unknown vaporizer pen is definitely deserving of the #2 spot when it comes to vaping oil concentrate.

#3 IVapor Fi Build-Your-Own Vaporizer – $43+

As we mentioned earlier, it’s no surprise that some of the biggest e-cigarette companies are getting involved in the vaporizer pen market. It’s also no surprise that they’re doing a good job, considering oil vaporizer pens are the exact same thing as basic e-cigarettes.

The #3 option on our list is the “Build Your Own Vaporizer” system from Vapor Fi. This allows you to pick out any combination of a battery and tank that you want. The cheapest setup will run you about $43, while the most expensive setup checked in at $114. But no matter what setup you choose, it will definitely work with oil concentrate.

However, we would recommend that you splurge on one of the more expensive tanks. It doesn’t matter what battery you get, but three of the tanks have top-feeding wicks, which are known to get clogged (especially when dealing with oil concentrate). The other three (the Rocket Tank, Platinum Clearomizer Tank, and Titanium Tank are all “bottom feeding” tanks, which is much better when it comes to working with the thicker oil.

We ended up going with the Pro Variable Battery ($29.99) combined with the Rocket Tank ($39.99). Add in $8 for the charger and it comes out to about $78.

In the end, our custom setup worked just as well as the V2 Pro and SkyCloud when it came to the oils. The only difference is that obviously this setup can’t work with waxes or dry herbs, making it a little less versatile.

This is a great option for somebody that wants to customizer their own setup down to the exact color scheme.

#4 Dube Vaporizer Pen – $44.99

The final oil vaporizer pen on our list is the Dube by White Rhino. It is the lowest priced option on our list (though only $12 less than the V2 Pro) and unfortunately also the worst performing.

But first let’s talk about the good. The Dube is a very small, very convenient vaporizer. It’s also extremely discreet for those times when you’re walking around in public. And while it can’t vape up to the level of the previous 3 pens, it does a great job considering how small it is.

We got some very quality vapor clouds when we first took it for a test run. However, that didn’t last for long. The chamber is obviously extremely small, so you have to refill it with oil very frequently, a real hassle. Additionally, the battery life was also pretty terrible. It would need to be charged a few times a day, and always seemed to die at the worst times.

However, I do think this pen could be of use to those who want something that looks like an e-cigarette. It allows for covert vaping, which for some people could mean more than better performance. For it’s size, we decided that we really can’t complain. It’s an interesting vaporizer pen and still deserves to be on our Top 4 Oil Pens list.

Wrapping Up

So, as you can see, there really aren’t an abundance of high quality oil vape pens on the market. If you try almost any other “oil vaporizer pen” on the market, you’ll find that it’s really just a low quality e-cigarette from china filled with oil concentrate.

You’re better off just going for a quality e-cigarette setup from Vapor Fi or some other vendor. Thankfully the V2 Pro Series and the SkyCloud are there to give us at least some options when it comes to the new age of oil vaping.
