Halo E-Cigarette Review: Triton Tank System

Halo E Cigs is Ranked 4th This Month… Here’s Why

Halo has been a leader in the e-cigarette industry for the last few years. 2 years ago, they were selling ‘cig-a-like’ models like pretty much every other brand in the country. But they were one of the first of the major brands to produce their own USA-made e-liquid, which was a big deal because back then most brands imported from China where there really wasn’t much quality control.

But now, Halo has skyrocketed past the cig-a-like age and into the world of refillable tanks and long-lasting, powerful batteries. Basically within 2 years, they went from selling something that was basically this:

To THIS:

Yep, that is Halo’s infamous Triton Tank System, which we’ll get into further down in the review. This fantastic vaping setup combined with their famous e-liquid are the reason Halo is consistently one of the highest ranked brands in the e-cigarette world.

Halo Starter Kit Selection and Prices

Halo has four very different starter kits: The G6 Starter Kit is their older, ‘cig-a-like’ style model. But it’s been upgraded and now includes mini refillable tanks which makes a big difference.

It is currently selling for $44.95. Then the Triton Tank System Starter Kit, which we showed you up there, is their superstar product. It just seems to have far better flavor and vapor production than you get from the smaller batteries and mini tanks. It’s just generally considered better by everyone from advanced e-cigarette users to beginners. The larger, eGo-style battery and tank really make all the difference.

The third one is Tracer Starter Kit — a budget sub-ohm mod capable of producing clouds of vapor. And the last (but not the least) — the Vapor Beast — Halo Reactor.

Tracer Starter Kit ($59.99)

Halo Tracer

The Tracer Vape Mod Starter Kit, or simply the Tracer, comes with a beautiful mech-style tube mod that opens a door for you into the flavorful world of low-resistance, sub-ohm vaping. The mod not only has a very beautiful design, but its performance totally swept us off our feet.

It comes with a powerful 2,600 mAh battery that can let you vape for all day long. According to our observations, one charge gives you between 2.5 to 3 hours of vaping. The 3.5 ml tank isn’t one of the biggest tanks available on the market, but it lets you vape longer between refills. And needless to say that the 0.5 sub-ohm dual-coil head offers unrivaled taste and very thick clouds.

Using the kit is very easy, the mod has a single firing button and the 4-port adjustable airflow tank ensures massive clouds. The design of the mod is pretty simplistic, with Halo flame logo and Halo imprinted on pretty much every side of the mod. The good thing is that you get two mouthpieces, my personal favorite one is the stainless steel mouthpiece as the moisture inside the glass mouthpiece freaks me out. I would definitely recommend tracer for everyone who is looking for a cheap decent sub-ohm vape.

Reactor Starter Kit ($69.99)

Reactor 50W

If you’re willing to spend a few extra bucks and want a bigger tank and more powerful mod than the Tracer Starter Kit, consider the Reactor Starter Kit by Halo. Reactor kit comes with adjustable wattage (up to 50W) as well as adjustable voltage, and also has an LED screen. It comes with a bigger, 5 ml tank, and has a more powerful 4400 mAh Reactor battery; the rest of the contents are pretty much the same as the Tracer Kit. We did put the two devices through their paces side by side, and although both of them performed exceedingly well, the Reactor kit definitely justifies the extra price.

Considering that there are mods that offer wattage as high as 200W or even higher, 50W might not sound very impressive, but it surely is a great pick for such an affordable price. The best thing about this kit is that you’ll never get any dry hits, it always offers smooth flavor, but if you want to take your vaping experience to the next level, try using it with HALO High VG (v-type) e-liquid.

Just like any other product on the market, there are a couple of minor issues with the Reactor Starter Kit, so take them with a pinch of salt.  First, the fluid container sometimes gets pretty tight and hard open, maybe because of sudden temperature fluctuations. Moreover, there is also a slight learning curve if you’re new to vaping. But at the end of the day, what really matters is the design, performance, and price of the kit, and the Reactor Starter Kit deserves full marks.

Halo G6 Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit ($44.99)

The G6 is Halo’s version of the “cig-alike.” It performs just as well as other top brands with similar models. The G6 Starter Kit includes two batteries, five cartomizers, one USB charger, one wall adapter, and one Halo case. You get to choose the color and size of your batteries as well as whether they are automatic or manual. Of course, you also pick what flavor you’d like included.

They’ve actually added miniature refillable tanks to their G6 line, which sort of mixes the portability with the power of the Triton System. Plus, it’s $5 less, which never hurts.  Though honestly we think it’s worth far more than the extra $5 to go for the product we’re going to talk about next…

Halo Triton Tank System Starter Kit ($49.95) — (comes with two(!) e-cigs)

Halo Triton

The Triton Tank System is the star of the show for Halo. It’s one of the best overall setups I’ve had in my time as an e-cigarette user and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to make the switch from tobacco. The Triton Tank System runs for $65, and you get the following:

  • 2 Manual Triton Batteries in the color of your choice
  • 2 Crystal Clear Tanks
  • 1 Iridescence Cone (this covers the tank and matches your battery to give it an overall sleeker look)
  • 1 Charging Kit

This is a very reasonable deal for a two battery kit, especially on the level that the Triton batteries are on. If you want to check out all the different colors and options for the tank system, just click the button below:

Our Full-Length Review of the Halo Triton Tank System

We got our hands on this kit around October of 2013. There have been some advancements in 2014 but the basic functionality is there. Here are some photos that we took after unpacking our kit:

Halo has two starter kits which are very different with each other. They also have a fantastic selection of e-liquid, give this brand a lot of options.

Score: 9/10

Prices

Halo has really decent prices. Their G6 starter kits cost $44.99 and the Triton starter kits cost $64.99. Both prices are cheaper than similar kits from most other brands. Their e-liquid and accessories have good prices also.

Score: 10/10

Design and Packaging

Halo’s Triton Tank System starter kit comes in a classy leather case, which is pretty unique for a starter kit. It is excellent for bringing your Triton with you while you’re on the go.

Score: 10/10

Vapor Production

The Halo Triton produces a huge voltage that creates massive vapor clouds for days. This is highly recommended if you love huge vapor clouds.

Score: 10/10

Battery Life

Just like the Halo Triton battery lasts much longer than cig-alike batteries such as the G6. Mine lasts, at least, an entire day on one charge.

Score: 10/10

Flavors

Halo is considered one of the best e-liquid suppliers on the market. They have 22 fantastic flavors. I have tried their flavors: Malibu, Tiki Juice, and Sub-Zero. Malibu and Tiki Juice are fruit flavors and Sub-Zero is menthol. I loved both Malibu and Sub-Zero. Tiki Juice was okay. From what I’ve tried, I can understand why they are so popular in the e-liquid industry.

Here is how their liquid is packaged (it comes in e-liquid form and you simply fill the tank with it):

In Closing

Halo is one of the best brands on the market. We highly recommend it. They have something for both advanced and new users and they are world reknowned as one of the most advanced e-cigarette companies.
