Arizer Solo Vaporizer Speed Review

We know not everybody has time to read our full reviews. So here is a quick category by category breakdown of the Arizer Solo followed by a quick synopsis.

  • Size & Portability: 90%
  • Build Quality: 98%
  • Price: 90%
  • Dry Herb Vapor Quality: 98%
  • Overall Rating: 94%

It's our #1 portable vaporizer for 2015 because it's easy to use, powerful, and it just has that "special something" that makes it really fun to use.

The Arizer Solo is a few years old at this point, so it is worth examining how it holds up against its newer, sexier competition. We’ve gone back and given it a thorough testing to see for ourselves how it performs and if it is still worth buying.

Design

arizer solo in handOne of the first things you will probably notice about the Arizer is that it is a big bigger and bulkier than a lot of portable vaporizers. This is epically true when you add in the glass tubes used to take your draws from it. It’s not really meant to fit in your pocket comfortably, especially if you are taking along the tubes as well. Besides, those tubes are glass and they really shouldn’t be carried that way.

But that’s not to say that the device is too large to be portable. You may just need to pack it in a carrying case or leave in it your car. But that extra size allows it to be super sturdy. Dropping it, using it often and heating it up all the way for long periods of time showed no adverse effect on the device. It still worked beautifully, even after taking some serious abuse. This is definitely a heavy duty vaporizer, and it is going to serve you well despite its size.

Use

arizer solo starter kitUsing the Arizer Solo can be a little tricky if you are used to other vaporizers or conventional cigarettes. You actually have to work to get a nice draw on it, and you may be inhaling for a full 10 seconds to get a good pull. Once you are used to it, it works like a dream, but you may have to adjust your vaping methods just a bit to get really nice draws from it. It compares to drinking a really thick milkshake through a straw. There’s a lot of good to be had there, but you have to do some work to enjoy it.

You can plug it in as you use it, and it only takes about an hour to charge. The charging port is on the bottom of the Arizer Solo, though, so you won’t be able to set it down on the table while it is charging.

The glass attachments allow you to use the Arizer in a few different ways, finding what is comfortable for you. This makes it a bit more versatile than most of the other options out there, but it can be confusing for first time users who are under the impression that sucking out the vapor is all there is to the experience.

It has a few different temperature settings, and you may have to play with it a bit to find which one works for you. But there are enough heating options there that you won’t have any trouble finding one that you are happy with.

Performance

The battery life is decent, lasting for about an hour on an hour’s charge. So it should last you throughout the day until you can get back home and charge it again.

The device itself is also really durable. It performs wonderfully for years, and since it has been out on the market for a while, we can attest to that ourselves. Most people aren’t going to experience any real problems with their Solo for a long time, so long as they are using it properly.

And while earlier versions made it very difficult to get good draw out, Arizer has improved their product over the years to make it a bit easier. So if you have tried this when it first came out, you might be pleasantly surprised by the improvements that have been made since then.

The vapor quality is excellent. The Solo manages to use up your herbs without much difficulty, and they taste great the entire time. You don’t get any of the plasticy or burnt smell that some of these portable vaporizers give you after you get down to the dregs.

And while some people have reported that their tubes didn’t fit snugly into their vaporizers, we had no problem with ours. What we realized is that there are a few different versions available, and some of them hold the tubes in better than others.

The Solo also lets you know when the battery is low and it shuts off for itself after a period of inactivity. This all works to make it a very convenient and sophisticated vaporizer and one that isn’t going to give you many safety scares.

It heats up in as little as a minute, but we found that letting it heat up for another minute after that actually allows it to produce the best vapor. This gives your herbs time to vaporize and create enough buildup in the device to allow for some really great draws.

Verdict

Arizer Solo
QSC Rating: 95/100 by

After all these years, the Arizer Solo is still one of the top contenders on the market. It may not fit in your pocket very easily, and the glass tubing may make it hard to carry around the way you would any other vaporizer, but it is a quality product through and through.

The battery life is commendable as is the low recharge time. And we appreciate how well this device creates thick, milky clouds of vapor. Our only real issue with it is how hard it can be to get a good draw from it. But this is the kind of thing that becomes easier with practice. You just can’t take your draws like you would from most other vaporizer. You have to give it time and take long, low, slow draws. You will definitely be rewarded for your patience with a pleasing experience that few other vaporizers can match.

Pros:

  • Works like a charm for years
  • Easy to use and load
  • Uses all your herbs without any hassle
  • The high-tech functions are nice

Cons:

  • Can be hard to get a good draw from it
  • Glass tubes make it bulky and difficult to transport
