This aluminum cylinder packs a outward-facing heating element. There are no frills to be had here. It is just a simple device. The natural aluminum coloring recalled for us the early days of vaporizing, where box-shaped wooden vapes ruled the land. This isn’t really made for people who want something sleek and modern, but it’s a good fit for people who don’t want a lot and just want their vaporizers to do a simple job well.
And you can’t get much simpler than this. It has just what is necessary to vape herbs and nothing more. And the $160 price point reflects that well. You’re not paying for a bunch of cheap parts; you are paying for simplified functionality.
That means that using Da Buddha should be simple too, right? Well it is. You just fill the end of the wand with about .2 g of herbs and turn on the vaporizer. It takes about four minutes for the vape to hit the desired heat setting. That setting can be adjusted by using the knob on the front. There isn’t a temperature mark on the dial, so you kind of have to guess. Turing it to the three o’clock position seemed to work best for us. It didn’t burn the herbs we put in, and it kept the vapor production at a steady rate.
There’s a screen on the end of the wand that prevents you from sucking your herbs into your mouth. This is likely the first part of the vaporizer to go, so three additional ones are included. Once you attach your wand, you don’t have to hold onto it. It will stay in place all by itself.
Also included when you buy the Da Buddha is a mouthpiece, a poker and a carrying bag. The bag was a nice touch we thought, and it makes it easier to tote the vaporizer around when you have a bag that is custom made for it.
The way the heating element is angled means that there is less of a chance that you will accidently knock some herbs into the heating element. That’s good for us clumsy vapers who bump the desktop vape very now and then or don’t have very steady hands.
This also means that you don’t have to pack the herbs in very tight just to get them to vape well. It is easier for the device to vape everything evenly and not accidently burn them with this setup.
And as simple as the vaporizer is, it works remarkably well. I mean, you don’t really need a lot to vaporizer herbs. You just need a heating element and a tube to take draws out of. I’m surprised something this simple hasn’t been introduced to the mass market before. As it is, the Da Buddha makes a nice counterpoint to what is out there.
It is essentially a simpler version of the Silver Surfer vaporizer, and in, fact, it is made by the same people. The big difference is that this retails for $160. Now it doesn’t have all the functionality of the fancy high-end machines. Here is no LED screen or multiple vaping options or even a way to use it with oils and waxes. But it vapes herbs very well, and for many people, that will be enough.
Now we have had ours for a few years now. The warranty covers it for three years, but it should last you much longer than that, even if you aren’t terribly careful with it. That’s because it is basically a few solid pieces. There aren’t a lot of little parts that can be broken or damaged, and everything that comes with it is of great quality. And since you don’t have much in the way of plastic parts, the heat won’t wear on it and melt it down.
This is probably the most durable desktop vaporizer on the market today, and it is priced super affordably. There is some incredible value to be had here. So while it won’t blow you away with its looks, its functionality, affordability and usefulness may surprise you.
Da Buddha Vaporizer
QSC Rating: 89/100 by Quit Smoking Community
- The best price on the market for a desktop vaporizer that works well
- Simple to use and not much of a learning curve
- Despite its basic design, there is not much smell from it
- Very solid craftsmanship
- You have to guess the temperature
- Very plain design
Da Buddha is designed very intelligently. It doesn’t require much maintenance, and it isn’t filled with parts that can break easily or that will wear down. It is built to last you for years. So while it may not be fancy and come with all sorts of functionality, it is practical. For the practical minded and those who want something simple to start out with, we cannot recommend this vaporizer enough.
It is a great way to be introduced to vaping and to see how it suits you. You won’t have to make a huge investment, but you will get a lot of value out of it. In its price range, it stands above everything else that is available. You can find nicer-looking and more sophisticated models just about anywhere. But you will pay a lot more and might not be any happier with them.
