The Herbalizer is challenging the Volcano for top dog in the luxury vaporizer department. It is one of the best pure vaporizers on the market with the option to do whips or bags.

The Herbalizer vaporizer wants you to know that it was made in the USA by people who used to work at NASA. These facts are found all over its packaging and advertising materials. But do these bullet points actually make for a better system or are they simply marketing lingo?

Design

The design is decidedly modern and sleek. It look like a flattened egg, and reminded us of an Apple device. It doesn’t exactly scream “drug paraphernalia”, which is always a plus for those of us with friends who just wouldn’t understand.

The device is made to be simple-looking on the outside but performs complex functions once you open it up and start using it. And the straightforward and attractive design really grabbed us from the start.

Use

herbalizer starter contentThe Herbalizer is easy to initially operate. You just open it up and it turns on automatically. Once you open it, the inside splits into
two separate trays. The two sections are each for different functions. One tray is for aromatherapy and the other is for vaping.

To use the aromatherapy function, you first need to dab in your wax or essential oils. You’ll put your oil on a small pad and then place the pad in front of the fan. Then you just set your runtime. This tells the device how long you want it to run for, after which it will shut off by itself.

If you use the vapor method, you will need to set the heat level. This device can go all the way up to 445°F, ensuring that it can vape anything you put in it. If you are going with the vaping method, you can choose from filling a balloon, inserting a whip to take draws or just using freestyle mode.

Freestyle mode allows the machine to just release vapor as it creates it. This is a perfect way to fill a room, but it might be wasteful if you are vaping alone or you are vaping on a tight budget.

Whips and Mylar bags are included for vaping, so you have everything you need to get started. Each bowl of herbs will fill two single liter bags, which is pretty incredible. And the whips are of high enough quality that they don’t add their own unpleasant taste to the vapor your draw in.

It’s all pretty easy to use, and it comes loaded with enough options to keep most people happy.

Performance

What’s great about the Herbalizer is how quiet and inconspicuous it is. We already mentioned that it looks pretty incognito and most people aren’t going to think of it as a vaporization machine when they first see it. But it is also very quiet, providing less noise on its highest fan setting than most other desktop vaporizers do on their lowest setting.

And the vapor production is great. You get a lot of use out of a single bowl of herbs, and part of that is because the wide base of the unit allows the herbs to all heat evenly. As long as you don’t have it set up too hot for too long, then you shouldn’t ever experience any herb burning. That means it’s great at conserving your stash and giving you a lot of use out of small quantities.

And it works well with oil and waxes too. No matter what you put in this thing, it is going to vape it well and provide you with a great experience. You can even use it as a legitimate aromatherapy machine. Now many of these desktop vaporizers will add that feature in as a way to make their machine look like it has more uses than just vaping herbs. But the aromatherapy function on the Herbalizer actually works really well. And it is perfect for clearing the scent out of a room after you have a vaping session.

We only have minor quibbles with this device. The Herbalizer is mostly well-built, but its standout features are definitely its performance. When it comes to basic structural design, it falls a bit short of what we had hoped for in a NASA-designed product. Some of the parts feel cheap and don’t quite fit together perfectly, but these are just minor problems that take very little way from an excellent machine.

Verdict

Herbalizer Vaporizer
QSC Rating: 82/100 by

We love that this device does so much and does it all quite well. The quiet performance and diverse functionality make it a vaporizer to be reckoned with. The LED display screen and smooth temperature and fan controls make it a dream to operate. But the sticker shock of a $720 device may throw off some users.

It will definitely become an investment, so if you aren’t sure about it or you are new to the vaporizer scene, then this probably isn’t the machine you want to start out with. Make no mistake, it is a superb vaporizer, but it is also quite costly.

Pros:

  • Very quiet operation
  • Comes with plenty of vaping options
  • Includes all you need to start vaping
  • Vapor performance is great no matter how you are using it
  • A legitimate aromatherapy machine is also part of the package

Cons:

  • That price is a bit high
  • Some parts are not of the highest quality

If you are looking for a high-end desktop vaporizer, you really can’t go wrong with the Herbalizer. It is expensive, but if you have the money to spend on it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s going to last you for a while and make your investment seem worthwhile.

We would say the Volcano edges it out for value, but the Herbalizer definitely provides a great experience that stands on its own two feet and doesn’t feel derivative. It certainly stands out from the crowd, both in its pedigree and its basic design. If you compare it against the very best of what is out there, the only way the Herbalizer comes up even a little short is in its price tag. But if you can get over that, then definitely pick it up.
