QSC Rating: 96/100 by Quit Smoking Community
Not everyone has the time to read through a ton of text, so for those who want the gist of how the Mighty Vaporizer performs, here is a quick rundown of its performance.
- Dry Herb Vapor Quality: 99%
- Build Quality/Sturdiness: 95%
- Price: 90%
- Overall Rating: 96%
The Mighty Vaporizer shares the same design aesthetic as the Crafty, with the ribbed body, matte black finish, and the foldable mouthpiece on top. However, the Mighty is significantly larger both in height and width. We never found the added heft to be a problem, though other users might think otherwise.
Because of its added bulk, the Mighty is not as portable, but it lasts longer, making it perfect for all-day use as well as group sessions. We were able to last a day without charging, with some charge left over before turning in for the night.
In terms of on-board controls, the Mighty has a fire button and enough space to include an LED screen to display crucial information such as temperature and battery life, as well as additional buttons that let us make adjustments on the fly.
Mighty’s Usability and Performance
Overall, the Mighty is very easy to use. We find that filling is a breeze due to the Filling Aid that comes with the unit. The device can hold from 0.2 grams to 0.3 grams of dry herb, depending on how fine you grind your material. We found that each filling could give us about six hits, more than enough to get medicated.
Adjusting the temperature is a simple matter of pressing the arrow keys on the body. To start heating, just press the power button and you are good to go. Unlike other units that require you to hold the heat/power button, the Mighty is a one-and-done affair, making it very convenient to use. We never missed having to hold a button for more than a minute while heating, which is always a good thing.
We had one gripe, though, and that is the lack of app support. It would have been nice if Storz & Bickel added app functionalities with the Mighty, but alas, they did not. It is not a deal breaker by any measure, but it would have been a fantastic addition, one we would welcome with open arms.
As for performance, we find the Mighty Vaporizer performs just as one would expect from a Storz & Bickel product. The unit employs a hybrid heating system, which uses conduction and convection heating. Pre-heating utilizes conduction, while the rest of the way, the convection method is used. Admittedly, we never noticed the difference, but maybe that’s because we were enjoying our vape too much.
Temperature can be set from anywhere between 105 to 410 degrees Fahrenheit, and this can be adjusted any time allowing us to fine-tune our vape even in the middle of a session.
Heating times take about a minute and a half to two minutes, depending on the temperature set and how one grinds their herb. These times are faster than the Mighty’s smaller brother but are slower than other vaporizers in its class. We were able to heat herb at less than two minutes using finely ground herb with the temperature set at about 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Because of its bigger size, battery life is expectedly longer than similar products. It handily beats out most of the competition regarding longevity. Additionally, the Mighty has passthrough capabilities, allowing users to vape as they charge. However, bigger batteries mean longer charging times, and we found that the Mighty takes about two hours to charge fully.
For users who want the best performance combined with the longest battery life, the Mighty Vaporizer is a fine choice. However, due to its size, it is not the most discreet vaporizer around. If you don’t mind carrying a brick of a device for better performance, the Mighty easily trumps the competition.
Personally, we found the Mighty to be a most capable vaporizer. We missed the added convenience and functionalities of a dedicated phone app, but nevertheless, the overall vaping experience we got from the Mighty is one of the best in its class.
